Job Title:               Diesel Technology Instructor

SUMMARY

Coordinates and delivers instruction to students enrolled in the VT Diesel program at Federal Correctional Institution El Reno OK. Responsible for recruitment and all teacher led instruction, work based learning, ongoing curriculum development and the development of all hands-on skill development activities. Must be knowledgeable in all facets of

Diesel powered equipment and systems. Performs tasks, duties and responsibilities as may be assigned. Maintains professional attitude and appearance when representing Canadian Valley Technology Center. Twelve-month position

assigned to Business & Industry Services (BIS), reports to the BIS Director. Evaluated jointly by FCI Staff and BIS Director according to Canadian Valley Technology Center's policies and procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. General Administration

 

Develops and maintains records as required by Canadian Valley Technology Center and the Federal Bureau of Prisons

FCI El Reno.

 

Adheres to Bureau of Prisons/FCI El Reno policies, procedures and security measures. Maintains electrical program safety/training equipment inventory and records.

Ensures that equipment necessary to meet the training needs of students is available and in safe working condition. Cooperates with FCI and CVTECH Staff to ensure smooth operation of training program.

Test students to measure progress and evaluate effectiveness of training program.

 

 

 

Curriculum and Instruction

 

Assists in developing and/or locating diesel engine and related training materials, equipment, and curriculum. Maintains a class schedule for delivery of classes requested by FCI Education staff.

Ensures that students receive instruction in relevant industry standard skills and safety practices. Guides training program development and identifies potential problems.

Evaluates, revises and updates curriculum.

 

 

Researches articles for latest training information.

 

Works cooperatively with Canadian Valley BIS and Instructional Services staff in planning and developing curriculum to meet the needs of students.

 

 

 

Professional Development

 

Attends in-service meetings conducted by Canadian Valley Technology Center and the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education as well as FCI El Reno when requested.

 

Takes advantage of opportunities to further skills as a professional educator whenever available. Keeps informed of new regulations and industry standards through professional affiliations.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION

Your employment is subject to satisfactory completion of a background investigation to determine suitability for employment per Federal Bureau of Prisons guidelines. Its scope includes criminal record checks, credit checks, and inquiries with previous employers and personal references.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum of five years experience as a Diesel Technician. Teaching or training experience and ASE Certification

preferred.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to plan, organize, and teach classes. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with industry representatives and personnel in various industries. Ability to design and deliver training programs is preferred.

 

WORK SCHEDULE

7:30 am to 2:30 pm Monday through Friday, (Class meets 8:00am to 2:00pm) Additional time may be required for curriculum development etc.
