Description

 

Manage an information systems technical team to design, implement and maintain enterprise-wide management information and security systems that will support the district’s goals and objectives.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Establishes the district’s technical vision and strategic objectives, and leads the district’s technological development. Effectively communicates the district’s technology strategy to stakeholders.
  •  
  • Customarily and regularly manage direct reports to maximize the productivity, efficiency and the potential of the human assets of CV Tech, including: directing job assignments, monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules. Appraises performance and provides recommendations for staff compensation, promotion and termination actions, and hiring as appropriate.

  • Designs and implements processes and database structures, custom software development and deployment, and troubleshooting all system processes (including hardware, operating systems, and security) associated with new software releases. Provides for appropriate programming within various applications when needed in support of user and district needs.

  • Develops and implements IT policies, processes and procedures. Prepares operating reports to ensure that objectives are achieved, risks are managed appropriately, and the district’s technology resources are used responsibly. Manages new application development and system integration projects across multiple platforms to assure compatibility of system operations.

  • Establishes and directs the management of the district’s database resources, to include design, architecture, platform and security.
  •  
  • Directs the provision of network system administration for the enterprise-wide systems, to include user access, printer management, disk subsystems, patches, software updates, and troubleshooting problems.

  • Works with the Assistant CFO to submit timely documents and processes associated with the Universal School and Libraries program references as “E-rate”.
  •  
  • Maintains awareness of changing IT trends and regulations which might impact the district and takes corrective action as required.

  • Coordinates the development of the district’s technology plan.
  •  
  • Ensures appropriate and responsive services in support of the district website.
  •  
  • Develops the annual budget for the Information Technology Services department, approves expenditures, and compares actual results to planned budgetary performance. Directs and/or conducts system requirements, operational needs and implementation costs to project and achieve optimum utilization of budget, human and physical resources to support the enterprise’s management information system Reviews and approves technology inventory, future acquisitions, and upgrades to hardware and software, and reviews appropriateness of their use in district operations.

  • Provides direct technical expertise for district-wide projects requiring information systems collaboration or advice and collaborates across the district to cultivate new ideas and facilitate the technological development of programs and initiatives.

  • Ensures appropriate training programs are in place to attract, retain, and develop the key personnel required to support information services. Ensures all personnel are appropriately trained in the used of all IT products and services in order to effectively carry out their job responsibilities.

  • Performs tasks and duties relevant to any various roles or responsibilities assigned by the supervision and determined by management to be appropriate for this position; complies with all policy, procedure and regulation and other communicated requirements as may be in effect for the workgroup or worksite.

Education and/or Experience

 

Bachelor’s Degree in related field required, Master’s Degree preferred; Minimum of 10 years IT work experience with 5 years at network systems administrator level or above; 5 years supervision experience. Oklahoma Teaching or Administration certification and experience in education preferred. Industry recognized certifications may be given preference as well.

 

Must possess excellent communication skills; math skills; reasoning ability; and exhibit positive customer service characteristics. Exhibits dedication to professional development and career advancement.
