SUMMARY

 

The floater will be responsible for maintaining a clean and inviting environment, changing out age appropriate toys in each class room, covering breaks and lunches for the master teachers, as well as all closing duties at the end of the day. The floater will also be responsible for preparing and utilizing daily lesson plans for the children.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Classroom Management

 

      • Ability to maintain a strict time schedule set by the Lab Manager
      •  
      • Change out age appropriate toys in each classroom
      •  
      • Organizing the program for young children so that instructional activities can be accomplished safely and efficiently.
      •  
      • Maintaining an active but orderly center appearance and learning environment indoors and outdoors.
      •  
      • Conducting daily health check.
      •  
      • Observing, recording and reporting significant individual and group behavior.
      •  
      • Supervising play activities by: a) participating with children in group games, b) enforcing safety rules, c) intervening when children are likely to injure, d) remaining with one or more children until relieved by another adult.
      •  
      • Assisting children with self-care activities.
      •  
      • Aiding individual children who experience difficulty in the group or who temporarily lose their physical or emotional control.
      •  
      • Participating in/supervising daily activities with the young children, i.e., breakfast, lunch, lunch clean up and nap preparation, snack, etc. using positive guidance techniques.
      •  
      • Promoting family style dining procedure.
      •  
      • Assuming an equal share of housekeeping and laundry duties as needed.
      •  
      • Reporting accidents, health concerns, unusual occurrences to lab manager
      •  
      • Maintaining attendance, maintenance and school lunch records as required in the absence of the master teacher.

 

      • Assuming lead teacher responsibilities in the absence of the lead teacher.
      •  
      • Sanitizing toys, tables, equipment, etc.

 

      • Assisting with meal time routines.
      •  
      • Sweeping and cleaning the floor after each meal and supplement service.Curriculum Planning & Development

      • Preparing and submitting weekly lesson plans and teaching units to lab manger every week.

      • Utilizing innovative and effective learning activities both indoors and outdoors.

      • Supervising and interacting with children outdoors and indoors.

      • Planning activities which allow for a child's creative expression.
      •  
      • Preparing educational materials required to implement the daily activity plan.Professional Development

      • Attending all staff meetings and relevant parent meetings while making informative contributions.

      • Participating in recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth.

      • Developing a positive relationship between the center, the children, the students, and the parents.

      • Working cooperatively with all staff to maintain all Oklahoma State Licensing regulations and center goals.

      • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with two or more years full-time documentable experience in a preschool or child care center. Training in occupational child care, CDA, or college courses preferred.
